What is the difference between POP and IMAP?

POP based email is beneficial to users who access their email from one location only. POP based email downloads a copy of your email from our servers and stores it on your local PC. POP based email is also slightly faster when reading emails as it doesn’t have to continually communicate with our servers in order to view previously downloaded email.

IMAP based email is beneficial to users who access their email from multiple locations, such as at home, at work and/or via an iPhone or Blackberry device. IMAP based email is stored on our mail servers, and requires your PC to continually communicate with our servers in order to allow reading of your email. If you are running Microsoft Outlook Express or have an unreliable internet connection (such as a remote satellite connection) IMAP is not an option.
